An 83-year-old woman was detained by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on suspicion of attempted murder in Ribeira de Pena, located in the district of Vila Real.
In a statement sent to the press this Friday, the PJ explained that the woman “fired in the direction of the victim,” a 67-year-old man.
The crime occurred in a public area of the village of Ribeira de Pena, “allegedly over a trivial motive.”
The detained woman will appear in court for a judicial interrogation to determine the appropriate preventive measures.
On Thursday, a source from the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) had already indicated that an octogenarian was suspected of shooting a neighbor with two firearm shots.
The suspect, who turned herself into the GNR, allegedly fired six shots against the neighbor couple.
The 67-year-old man was hit in the upper limbs with two firearm shots. He was assisted on the scene by firefighters and the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) team, and later transported to the Vila Real Hospital, where he is “out of danger.”
The incident is believed to have occurred between the suspect’s and the victim’s houses.
