A source from the Aveiro Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that the alert for the road accident was issued around 11:00 a.m.
According to the GNR, the fatality was struck by a heavy goods vehicle on Rua do Forte da Barra, near Jardim Oudinot.
The incident led to the immediate declaration of the victim’s death on-site by a physician from the National Institute of Medical Emergency.
Response teams included the Ílhavo Fire Department, the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle from the Aveiro Hospital, and the GNR.
The GNR’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit (NICAV) will be conducting an investigation into the accident’s causes.
