An elderly woman died after being trapped in an elevator at a nursing home on Friday in Tomar. Another resident in the elevator sustained minor injuries.
The alert for the incident was received at 2:08 PM, and the death was declared at the scene, according to the Tomar Fire Brigade.
The same source stated that the second elderly woman suffered minor injuries.
Present at the site were the Tomar Fire Brigade, an Immediate Life Support (IVS) ambulance from Tomar, a team of psychologists (CAPIC), and the Public Security Police (PSP).
As reported, the deceased victim, who was in a wheelchair, reportedly fell as the elevator ascended and became trapped. The other woman, also in a wheelchair, did not notice the situation as she was facing away from the elevator exit.
