The early legislative elections will take place on May 18, following the political crisis that led to the resignation of the PSD/CDS Government.
In a national address this month, after a meeting of the Council of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa called for a “clear, dignified debate” in the remaining days leading up to the electoral event.
According to the electoral law of the Assembly of the Republic, in the event of dissolution, the head of state sets the date of the legislative elections at least 55 days in advance.
