An announcement was made today at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) regarding a contract established in July between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Neoenergia Coelba, an electricity distributor in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
The aim is to harness renewable energy sources and increase the use of this type of energy “throughout the next decade” while “improving energy efficiency.”
The project will enable “more people, especially in low-income communities, to access clean energy in Bahia, the fifth-largest state in the country with a population of nearly 15 million people,” according to the released statement.
