“The E-REDES electrical grid has been normalized since midnight today,” stated the operator.
On Wednesday, E-Redes reported that approximately 37,000 customers were initially without electricity by 7 a.m. due to severe weather conditions, with the number of affected customers decreasing throughout the day.
The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) recorded over 1,100 incidents related to heavy rain and strong winds on Wednesday up until 10 p.m., primarily in Lisbon, Vale do Tejo, and the Central region.
The severe weather also included thunderstorms, with the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) logging thousands of atmospheric electrical discharges in an “event with a degree of exceptionality,” according to the institute.
