
The installation activity increased by 12.5% over the past year, with revenues reaching 135 million euros, while maintenance and repair rose by 6.3% to 255 million euros.
Informa D&B reports that the number of elevators and lifting equipment exceeds 150,000, with 40% located in the district of Lisbon and “between 20% and 25% in Porto.”
The information released today highlights that this is a highly concentrated sector, with the 10 leading companies accounting for 85.3% of the business volume, and the top five representing 70.5%.
“The market is led by a small number of large companies, mostly foreign-owned, which operate on an international scale and offer integrated services of manufacturing, importation, installation, and maintenance,” the statement emphasizes.
At the end of 2023, there were approximately 75 companies in this sector with significant activity in Portugal, with a total workforce of 3,360 employees — only four employers had more than 250 workers.
Exports accounted for 13 million euros, and imports 80 million euros.
