Service limitations, initially scheduled to conclude at 8:00 PM today, will now be extended, the Local Health Unit of Central Alentejo (ULSAC) announced in a statement.
According to ULSAC, between 8:00 PM today and 8:00 PM on Wednesday, the Emergency Department for Internal Medicine at the Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora (HESE) will only admit new patients referred by CODU/INEM, other doctors, or through SNS 24.
“This temporary measure is due to a high influx of patients with complex clinical conditions requiring hospitalization, combined with a reduced team available in the specified specialty,” explained the local health unit, which oversees the Évora hospital.
The institution urged the public to contact the SNS 24 Line (808 24 24 24) or seek primary health care units before heading to the hospital to ensure appropriate referral based on the severity of their condition.
ULSAC also reminded that 24-hour service is available at the health centers of Vendas Novas, Montemor-o-Novo, and Estremoz, in the Évora district.
In the statement, the local health unit expressed gratitude, requested everyone’s cooperation, and emphasized that “this measure aims to ensure the safety and quality of care provided.”
