‘Emily in Paris’ in Lisbon “You can contact me,” says Moedas

The Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, expressed his willingness to host the filming of Netflix’s series ‘Emily in Paris’ in the Portuguese capital.

“You can contact me. I am available,” Moedas stated to The Hollywood Reporter during the second edition of the Tribeca Festival Lisboa on Saturday.

“I hope that at some point, one of these producers, film stars, or directors thinks it would be great to have a movie called Lisbon. We have many stories to tell,” he added.

The series ‘Emily in Paris’, created by Darren Star and starring Lily Collins, premiered its first season in October 2020 and is currently one of Netflix’s biggest romantic comedy successes.

The storyline follows Emily Cooper, a young American who relocates from Chicago to Paris to work at a marketing agency. Without mastering French, she quickly finds herself caught in cultural clashes, professional challenges, and romantic intrigues.

The first three seasons were filmed in France, while the fourth season includes some filming in Italy. The fifth season, set to premiere on December 18, 2025, will primarily take place in Rome and Venice.

Macron Opposes ‘Emily’ Leaving Paris

In October last year, following the director’s claim that Emily would have “a presence in Rome,” French President Emmanuel Macron urged that the series return to being shot in Paris.

“We will fight with all our forces. And we will ask them to remain in Paris! Emily in Paris in Rome doesn’t make sense,” Macron told Variety.

In response, the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, countered saying, “Emily is very well in Paris.” “Dear Emmanuel Macron, don’t worry: Emily is very well in Rome. And you can’t control the heart: let her choose,” he remarked on social media platform X.
