Emirates orders 65 Boeing 777X worth 32 billion euros.

Deliveries are expected to commence from the second quarter of 2027 under the terms of this contract, which also includes 130 GE9X engines from General Electric.

“It is a long-term commitment that supports hundreds of thousands of high-value jobs in the manufacturing industry,” commented the company’s president, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, during a press conference.

Emirates, wholly owned by the Dubai Government, was already the largest customer of Boeing 777, with 270 aircraft of the 777X model, 10 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s ordered.

The company has 315 large or long-haul Boeing aircraft on order but regrets the successive delays in the delivery of the 777X model, which had already been postponed from 2025 to 2026.

“Some may have doubts about the large number of aircraft orders from Emirates, but each ordered aircraft has been carefully integrated into Emirates’ growth plans,” explained the airline’s executive.

Emirates is the most profitable airline in the world, having recorded a ‘record’ annual gross profit for the third consecutive year in fiscal year 2024-2025, reaching $6.2 billion (approximately €5.5 billion), an 18% increase compared to the previous year.

Boeing, meanwhile, faces not only delivery delays but also safety concerns and legal proceedings after a series of accidents, including one that claimed 260 lives in June last year involving an Air India plane.

The delivery delays are forcing Emirates to renew much of its fleet, including its Airbus A380s, which are no longer in production.
