
The Instituto dos Registos e Notariado announced the opening of a recruitment process for 485 new registry officers, published today in the Diário da República.
According to the announcement, interested candidates have 15 working days from today to submit their applications.
It specifies that no prior connection to public service is required, and candidates must meet certain criteria, including holding a degree in Law.
The Ministry of Justice is currently negotiating with sector unions to review career paths, particularly focusing on salaries and evaluation models.
Next week, on the 23rd at 09:30, the unions will meet with the authorities for a new round of negotiations, a process also involving the Secretary of State for Public Administration.
Last week, the president of the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores dos Registos e Notariado (STRN), a significant representative entity in the sector, left the meeting at the Ministry of Justice disappointed with the Government’s proposal, describing it as “a setback” that fails to address the sector’s challenges.
The registries and notary sector has been under significant pressure in recent months due to the backlog of nationality requests, which, according to government figures, exceed 500,000.
Syndicate estimates indicate a shortage of 266 registry conservators and 1,867 registry officers, warning that previous openings were not filled due to the careers not being attractive enough.
