“The answer depends on the type of housing, thermal insulation, actual heating needs, and whether cooling is required during the warm season, among other factors. However, the solutions with the best cost-benefit ratio and environmental impact are air conditioning and pellet stoves,” the consumer protection organization states.
Calculations show that “to achieve the same amount of heat, a pellet stove can save 96 euros annually compared to a fan heater.”
“With air conditioning, the savings rise to 110 euros annually. The calculations consider a scenario of use for four hours a day, five days a week, over a period of five months,” it is noted.
Is air conditioning worth using in winter?
“Yes, it is one of the most efficient, fast, and comfortable ways to heat a home. The latest models consume little energy, are quick and silent to climatize the space, and can be controlled remotely via smartphones,” DECO PROTeste observes.
On the other hand, “pellet stoves are ideal for those seeking energy efficiency with a minimal environmental footprint. They burn wood waste (pellets), which are considered CO₂ neutral.”
