A sailboat with two French nationals on board was assisted Monday morning after experiencing “engine problems” off the coast of Câmara de Lobos, Madeira.
In a statement shared on social media, the Madeiran Sea Rescue Association (SANAS) announced the deployment of a lifeboat from Santa Cruz Station to “assist a foreign-flagged vessel” south of Câmara de Lobos.
“The sailboat, with two French nationals and experiencing engine problems, was approached by the SANAS103 crew who, ensuring there was no need for medical assistance, towed it to the Marina of Funchal,” the statement read.
According to SANAS, the operation was carried out with the “knowledge and support” of the Regional Civil Protection Service and the Funchal Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Subcenter.
