
The judge’s decision followed a letter sent by Pedro Frazão’s defense to the Criminal Court of Lisbon. The document, dated Tuesday, stated that a new parliamentary authorization is required for the Chega party deputy to be tried, despite this having already been granted in the previous legislature.
José Manuel Pureza, who has been the coordinator of BE since November 30, 2025, was, at the time the process originated, Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic and a deputy elected by that party.
