Entry into the country was denied to more than 1,250 people in the first semester.

The Public Security Police (PSP) has announced that over 9.5 million passengers were monitored at national airports during the first half of the year. The authorities intercepted more than 15,600 individuals and imposed precautionary measures in 6,052 instances.

A total of 77 judicial expulsion procedures and 23 coercive removal procedures were initiated. Additionally, the PSP assisted 142 citizens in voluntarily returning to their home countries.

There were 150 requests for international protection, and 314 individuals were arrested for document fraud, alongside another 133 for various reasons.

The PSP’s operational activities in airport security and border control included 70 national escorts and 52 international escorts.

The PSP manages border control responsibilities at nine border posts across airports in Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Beja, Madeira, Porto Santo, and the Azores (Santa Maria, São Miguel, and Terceira/Lajes airport).

Although not classified as air border posts, the PSP also oversees border control at the Tires Aerodrome and Horta Airport.
