The GNR has announced the seizure of a large quantity of live mollusks during a compliance inspection focused on the regulations concerning the capture, transport, and storage of live bivalves conducted on Tuesday.
Authorities detected a heavy goods vehicle transporting the bivalve mollusks without the legally required documentation or the necessary regulatory measures for commercial distribution.
“During the operation, the driver of the vehicle and the company owning the bivalves were identified, and an administrative offense report was filed, with fines potentially reaching up to 37,000 euros,” the statement reveals.
The GNR further states that the bivalves, valued at approximately 50,000 euros, have been sent to the Aveiro Auction, where they will undergo hygienic and sanitary control, including checks of their total weight and size.
