The European Union has sent a clear signal to the United States regarding trade tariffs, urging its transatlantic ally to reconsider the measures. “It will take time and effort… the United States of America does not view tariffs as a tactical step but as a corrective measure,” stated Maros Sefcovic at a press conference following a ministerial meeting in Luxembourg.
Serving as the EU’s Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Sefcovic called on Washington to approach tariff negotiations with a “fresh perspective,” emphasizing the shared challenges faced by the US and the 27 EU member states.
“If we unite, we can establish a transatlantic market that will benefit both sides,” he asserted.
However, Sefcovic delivered a stern warning to the White House: “We will not wait forever.”
