
Data released today by the statistical office of the EU, Eurostat, indicates that in the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same months last year, the seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 1.3% in the eurozone and 1.5% in the European Union (EU).
These preliminary GDP estimates, based on incomplete data sources and subject to later revisions, show the Portuguese economy as the fourth fastest-growing at 2.4%, alongside Sweden (which also grew by the same rate), surpassed only by Ireland (12.3%), Spain (2.8%), and the Czech Republic (2.7%) among the 15 EU countries with available data.
In quarter-on-quarter terms, the third quarter of this year compared to the previous period saw the seasonally adjusted GDP increase by 0.2% in the eurozone and 0.3% in the EU, according to the preliminary estimate published by Eurostat.
Among the Member States with available data for the third quarter of 2025, Sweden (+1.1%) recorded the largest increase compared to the previous quarter, followed by Portugal (+0.8%) and the Czech Republic (+0.7%).
