
As of 6:00 PM (Lisbon time), the euro was trading at 1.0929 dollars, compared to 1.0933 dollars at the same time on Monday.
The euro also declined against the pound and the yen.
The European Central Bank set the euro’s reference exchange rate at 1.0950 dollars.
During today’s session, the euro fluctuated between 1.0922 and 1.1050 dollars.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated today that he believes the United States’ new tariff policy “is not temporary” and is part of the changing global economic order.
“I don’t think what’s happened in the last few days is a temporary phase. I think it’s a changing world order. I think the world is moving in front of us into a new era,” the prime minister stated during a hearing at the Liaison Committee in the British parliament.
Since taking office last January, United States President Donald Trump announced tariff hikes on foreign cars and steel and aluminum to 25%.
Last week, the US leader decided to impose a base tariff of 10% on nearly all US imports, a rate that stands for the United Kingdom, which is higher for certain countries or blocs such as the European Union (20%) or China (34%).
