At 18:00 (Lisbon time), the euro was trading at $1.1538, compared to $1.1423 at the same time on Thursday.
The euro also rose against the pound but fell against the yen.
The European Central Bank (ECB) set the euro’s reference exchange rate at $1.1404.
The unemployment rate in the U.S. increased by 0.1 percentage points in July, reaching 4.2%, during the same month employers created 73,000 jobs, below estimates, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).
Estimates had indicated the creation of 115,000 jobs for that month.
The number of unemployed people rose by 221,000.
U.S. President Donald Trump pursued a tariff policy on almost all countries, believing that the taxes will bring industry back to North America and help raise new funds.
Economists have warned that the cost of tariffs will be passed on to the end consumer.
Last month, the U.S. industry cut 11,000 jobs, after reducing 15,000 in June and 11,000 in May.
