On the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, October 17, informational materials in various formats, from posters to online videos, will be made available, announced the organization today.
“The goal is simple and urgent: to demystify what it means to live in poverty and show that this reality may be closer to us than we imagine,” explained the Network in the document.
Videos will be presented featuring testimonies of people who share firsthand experiences of living with or having lived in this situation.
The campaign encompasses various dimensions of poverty: economic (lack of adequate income for a dignified life), energy (difficulty in accessing and maintaining basic energy services), food (limited access to sufficient and nutritious food), educational (barriers to education and training), housing (inadequate living conditions or risk of residential exclusion), labor (precarious jobs, low wages, and lack of social protection), health (difficulty in accessing essential healthcare), social exclusion (marginalization of groups and individuals, hindering full participation in society), multidimensional (interconnection of various forms of poverty), and structural (systemic inequalities perpetuating social vulnerability).
EAPN Portugal also announced that it would be at the Assembly of the Republic on Tuesday, with more than 80 people experiencing poverty, for the XII National Forum dedicated to the theme “Combating Poverty in Portugal: a permanent constitutional and social commitment!”
