
In September, the eurozone recorded a year-on-year inflation rate of 2.2%, while the EU reported a rate of 2.6%. In October 2024, these figures were 2.0% and 2.3% respectively.
The core inflation rate, excluding more volatile items like energy and food, remained steady at 2.4%.
Among EU member states, the lowest inflation rates were registered in Cyprus (0.2%), France (0.8%), and Italy (1.3%), with Portugal having the sixth lowest at 2.0%, measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices.
Conversely, the highest rates were observed in Romania (8.4%), Estonia (4.5%), and Latvia (4.3%).
Compared to September, year-on-year inflation dropped in 15 member states, remained unchanged in three, and rose in the other nine.
