
In the euro area, the inflation rate for March was 2.2%, a slight decline from February’s 2.3%, and also lower than the 2.4% recorded in the same month of 2024.
Across the European Union, according to data from the European statistical service, the inflation rate slowed to 2.5%, down from 2.7% in the previous month and 2.6% in the comparable period last year.
In March, the lowest year-on-year inflation rates, as measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), were reported in France (0.9%), Denmark (1.4%), and Luxembourg (1.5%).
Conversely, the highest year-on-year rates were observed in Romania (5.1%), Hungary (4.8%), and Poland (4.4%).
Compared to February, annual inflation decreased in 16 member states, remained stable in one, and increased in ten.
Portugal recorded the sixth-lowest inflation rate for March, measured by the HICP, at 1.9%.
