An event celebrating the Portuguese language was held in Tel Aviv last night in honor of the international anniversary of the Portuguese language (5th of May – is the International Day of the Portuguese Language). The event was hosted by the embassies of Angola, Brazil, and Portugal, all of which have Lusophone populations in their countries.
Throughout the evening, the elaborate and joyous event was directed by Laura Cristina Oliva Alon, who is a cultural Attaché of the Portuguese Embassy.
At the event, there were delegations from various embassies and invitees on their behalf, as well as cultural figures such as the Brazilian author Noemi Jaffe, the Israeli poet and playwright David Grossman, Fado Singer Antonio BVasco Moraes and the two guitar players Bernado Romão and João Filipe, SEMBA dancers from the Angolan culture, and of course the official representatives from the following embassies:
- The ambassador of Angola in Israel, Osvaldo dos Santos Varela.
- The Head of the Brazilian Mission in Israel Lincoln Bernardes Junior.
- The Portuguese Ambassador in Israel Luís Barros.
