The vice-president of the Chega party’s Jurisdiction Council, Ana Caldeira, has resigned from her position and was relieved of her duties in the party’s Parliamentary Group following reports of her trial for qualified fraud and document forgery.
“Dr. Ana Caldeira submitted her resignation from the position of vice-president of the National Jurisdiction Council yesterday evening and was also removed from her duties in the Chega Parliamentary Group today,” announced the Chega leader, André Ventura, this Friday.
Speaking to journalists, André Ventura defended his actions, stating that he made the necessary decision and asked the questions that needed to be addressed.
“As I have always said, Chega is a party that is genuinely different from others and acts differently. When consequences need to be drawn, they are,” he stated.
On Thursday night, it was reported that Ana Caldeira allegedly attempted to defraud a former partner by forging the signature of a woman who died in 2015.
The case dates back to March 2022, when the lawyer convinced a former partner to lend her six thousand euros, which a client urgently needed, with the promise of a ten thousand euro return within six months.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) alleged that the lawyer forged the signature “with the intent to keep the sum of six thousand euros.”

The debt acknowledgment contract and the Authentication Term, both registered on the Bar Association’s website, were allegedly signed by Maria Amélia Martins, the client in question. However, Maria Amélia Martins passed away in March 2015.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office concluded that the lawyer falsified the signature “with the objective of appropriating the sum of six thousand euros.” This amount was returned, but the promised interest was not paid.
