
A new initiative proposed by Luís Montenegro’s administration for European funds includes the establishment of a Sustainable Development Municipal Fund with an initial capital of 25 million euros.
The aim of this proposal is to “boost investments and the execution of community funds while securing better credit conditions.”
This measure is specifically designed “for municipalities with smaller size and financial capacity,” as explained by the government.
The Program of the XXV Constitutional Government, emerging from the May 18 elections won by the AD coalition (PSD/CDS), was submitted today to the Assembly of the Republic by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Carlos Abreu Amorim.
The government program, approved in the Council of Ministers on Thursday, is scheduled for discussion in the Assembly of the Republic on Tuesday and Wednesday.
During a press conference following the government meeting, Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro termed the document as “an ambitious program aimed at transforming the country,” organized into 10 priority areas including state reform, regulated immigration, income increase, local security, housing, and defense.
The PCP has announced plans to present a motion of rejection, but this move is destined to fail, as it will not receive support from Chega and PS, in addition to the PSD and CDS.
