The Institute of Social Security (ISS) has confirmed the availability of budgetary resources to support medical boards until the end of the year.
The ISS stated that access to social benefits requiring medical verification, such as disability pensions, is contingent upon application.
“All applications submitted to Social Security have been and will be evaluated by a medical board, with the average evaluation time being less than 30 days,” according to information released by the Institute of Social Security.
The ISS clarified that the budget for medical boards is estimated annually and adjusted based on variables such as process volume or changes in convening criteria.
Doctors operate under service provision contracts to conduct annual clinical acts, based on budget endorsements and “in compliance with the legal limits set for annual contracts.”
Once a doctor reaches the contract’s stipulated value, they “cannot continue to perform medical acts,” a continuity maintained by other doctors who haven’t reached their contractual limit yet, a situation “not directly related to budget availability,” stated the same source.
“If necessary, a contractual addendum can be made to allow more medical acts, but only if needed and if the annual contractual limit has not been reached,” the ISS declaration reads.
Doctors are notified by district services when they are approaching the defined contract limit.
