The euro area recorded a trade surplus of 16.2 billion euros, compared to 12.7 billion euros in the same month of the previous year. In the European Union, the positive balance in the external trade of goods increased compared to 8.9 billion euros in May 2024.
Eurozone exports to the rest of the world rose by 0.9%, from 240.6 billion euros in May 2024 to 242.6 billion euros one year later.
Imports, on the other hand, decreased by 0.6%, amounting to 226.5 billion euros compared to 227.9 billion euros year-on-year.
According to the EU’s statistical service, across the European bloc, the export of goods in May was 216.9 billion euros, a 0.1% increase from May 2024 (216.8 billion euros).
Imports stood at 203.8 billion euros, a decline of 2.0% compared to 207.9 billion euros year-on-year.
