
Rail service on the Cascais line has been suspended on the morning of Friday, August 29, between Algés and Cais do Sodré stations, following a fatal incident.
The Public Security Police (PSP) confirmed the incident involving a 59-year-old man.
The event occurred at the Rocha do Conde de Óbidos level crossing.
On Facebook, Comboios de Portugal (CP) informed its followers about the suspension and promised updates “whenever necessary.”
“We inform you that the circulation between Algés and Cais do Sodré is suspended due to an incident on the line. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will update the information as needed,” the post reads.
CP – Comboios de Portugal stated that there is no estimated time for resumption of service between Cais do Sodré and Algés. The line is closed in both directions.
The Lisbon Fire Brigade reported that they were alerted to the incident at the Rocha do Conde de Óbidos crossing around 8:30 am.
At 9:30 am, 32 personnel, supported by 11 vehicles, were on site.
