
The rail service on the Cascais line was disrupted this Friday morning, August 29, between Algés and Cais do Sodré stations due to a fatal accident.
The Public Security Police (PSP) confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto that the victim was a 59-year-old man.
The incident occurred at the level crossing of Rocha do Conde de Óbidos.
On Facebook, Comboios de Portugal (CP) informed its followers about the suspension of train services and promised to update the information as necessary.
“Train services between Algés and Cais do Sodré have been suspended due to an incident on the line. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience caused. We will update the information as warranted,” reads the post.
An official from CP – Comboios de Portugal told the Lusa news agency that there is no estimate on when the service between Cais do Sodré and Algés on the Cascais Line will resume, as it is currently suspended in both directions.
Contacted by Lusa, a representative from the Lisbon Fire Brigade said the alert for the railway accident at Rocha do Conde de Óbidos was given around 8:30 a.m.
By 9:30 a.m., 32 operatives were on site, supported by 11 vehicles.
