Fenprof requests that rights be guaranteed with changes to the competition

“We may be facing a situation that, beyond bypassing the expectations under which the candidates applied, could alter the ranking and placement of candidates,” writes the union federation.

The issue concerns the decision announced on Thursday by the Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation to revise the ordinance on vacancies, increasing positions in some subjects but leaving the total number of available places unchanged at 1,800.

According to Fernando Alexandre, recruitment groups such as the first cycle of basic education or Physics and Chemistry (for which no vacancies were initially provided) will receive more places, while others “where there are probably not even enough candidates” will face a reduction.

Emphasizing its support for the decision to increase vacancies to meet unforeseen needs, Fenprof argues that this increase should not be offset by eliminating vacancies in other subjects.

“We are dealing with a public contest, which requires special care whenever any amendment/addition is made, especially if done during the process,” emphasizes Fenprof.

In addition to revising the ordinance on vacancies, the government has also decided to extend the application period until 23:59 on November 21, a week longer than initially planned (November 14).

Given these changes, teachers who have already submitted their applications may alter their choices.
