Former Lisbon Mayor Fernando Medina has announced that he will not be seeking inclusion on the list of candidates for the Assembly of the Republic in the upcoming legislative elections. In a statement to the press agency Lusa, Medina explained his decision is personal after serving in various high-profile political roles for two decades.
The former Finance Minister and current Socialist Party (PS) deputy emphasized his commitment to the party’s success in the forthcoming elections. “I am fully committed to the PS’s victory in the next legislative elections,” he stated.
Medina advocated that only a PS victory could ensure a political agenda focused on development and social justice, addressing the needs and aspirations of the Portuguese people. He assured that he would continue to actively participate in civic engagements, particularly within the scope of the PS.
