The vessel departed from Setúbal with approximately 30 passengers and four vehicles on board. The incident resulted in no personal or material damage, with no elderly or children present.
“The company’s intention is to wait for the tide, and they have already arranged for a tug alongside the ferry, which also delivered light meals to the passengers,” noted the AMN.
Correio da Manhã reported on Wednesday night that the vessel ‘Rola do Mar’ ran aground at around 8:30 PM upon leaving Setúbal.
AMN further informed Lusa that the next attempt to refloat the ferry is scheduled for 2:00 AM, benefiting from the rising tide, although the tug will not be able to get close until 4:00 AM.
High tide will occur at 7:00 AM, it added.
