The 14th edition of the Fora do Lugar festival presents the public with 25 offerings, including concerts (some secret), discussions, meetings, cinema, gastronomy, nature, and an educational program featuring musicians and projects from Afghanistan, Morocco, Portugal, Ukraine, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Slovenia, Slovakia, and France.
“More than a meeting of ancient music, Fora do Lugar is a space of discovery, sharing, and identity. It echoes the soul of our territory, where the past is reinvented, and the future is built with the hands and hearts of our people,” stated Elza Gonçalves, the president of Idanha-a-Nova City Council, in a statement.
The mayor emphasized that Idanha-a-Nova is a municipality with a unique energy where culture flourishes among historical villages, open fields, and a community that welcomes with generosity and wisdom.
“This festival is also a celebration of that collective strength, which distinguishes us and fills us with pride. With each concert, each meeting, each moment lived out of place, we affirm our belief that culture is one of the pillars of human development and territorial cohesion.”
The festival begins at the Sé Cathedral of the historic village of Idanha-a-Velha on the 21st at 9:30 p.m., featuring a concert by Sada-ye Afghanistan (Afghanistan).
During the event, there will be educational programs, discussions, meetings between musicians and the public, cinema, birdwatching, and concerts.
Additionally, there will be two moments centered around regional gastronomy.
The event concludes on December 6, at 9:30 p.m., at the Cathedral of Idanha-a-Velha, with a performance by the ensemble Wild Strings Trio (Slovakia, Slovenia, France).
Fora do Lugar is artistically directed by Filipe Faria and is an original project produced by Arte das Musas, in partnership with the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova and supported by the Direção-Geral das Artes.
