“The festival predominantly features ‘heavy metal’ bands, but each year we like to present groups that are ‘outside the box’,” stated Vítor Paixão, a member of the cultural youth association CulturMais, the event’s promoter.
This focus, he continued, is why the event is dedicated to “alternative extreme” music, as “the association always aims for an eclectic lineup.”
This year’s edition will include performances by 21 bands, highlighting acts like Pentagram and Absu from the United States, Benediction and Esoteric from the United Kingdom, Archgoat from Finland, and Greece’s Suicidal Angels.
The event predominantly takes place at the Pavilion of Flavors, within Beja’s Fair and Exhibition Park, with shows starting at 20:00, except on the first day.
“Thursday is dedicated to welcoming festival-goers with free entry, featuring the Dutch ‘thrash metal’ band Cryptosis, accompanied by two national bands,” with the concert scheduled for 21:00, said Vítor Paixão.
On the remaining days, daily tickets cost 25 euros, and the full pass is priced at 40 euros, with tickets nearly sold out.
“The venue prepared for the shows can accommodate between 500 to 600 people and is almost full,” emphasized the organizer member.
In addition to concerts at the Pavilion of Flavors, the festival includes a parallel program at a bar terrace in Praça da República, in the city center, starting around 16:00 each afternoon, according to the organization.
Vítor Paixão explained that there will be “daily DJ sets and a surprise concert on Friday, open to the public” at this location.
