
“The situation resulting from depression Cláudia is normalized, with fewer than 300 affected customers,” E-REDES stated in a press release.
At 08:30, around 16,000 electricity customers were without supply in the districts of Lisbon, Santarém, and Setúbal.
Continental Portugal recorded, by 17:00 today, 1,874 incidents due to bad weather, resulting in two deaths, one minor injury, and four displaced people, according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
In a statement, ANEPC notes that the report covers incidents from 14:00 on Wednesday to 17:00 today, with the most affected sub-regions being the Setúbal Peninsula with 498 incidents, Greater Lisbon with 184, and Lezíria do Tejo with 151.
The main types of incidents included 1,111 floods, 311 fallen trees, 190 road clearances, 130 structural collapses, and 121 landslides.
Regarding victims, ANEPC reported two deaths in Fernão Ferro, Seixal, Setúbal, due to a house flooding, and one minor injury following a tree fall in Serpa, Beja.
Additionally, due to the bad weather, three people were displaced in Abrantes (district of Santarém) and one in Pombal (district of Leiria).
Depression Cláudia has been affecting mainland Portugal and the Madeira archipelago since Wednesday with strong rain, wind, and maritime agitation, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
IPMA issued a red warning, the most severe, for sometimes heavy and persistent rain for the districts of Santarém, Setúbal (until 10:00), and Faro (until 15:00).
