Fifty affordable income houses built in the parish of Benfica

New apartments of types T1, T2, and T3 are set to be constructed on land provided by Lisbon City Council, located near the new University Residence of Calhariz de Benfica and the CP station, as stated by the municipality in a communication.

The Parish Council indicates the use of modular construction with prefabricated concrete, which will expedite the project timeline.

“The initiative represents an investment of nearly six million euros, fully financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and is part of the Affordable Rent scheme, addressing the increasing demand for affordable housing in Lisbon,” reads the statement.

The Parish Council of Benfica notes that “another building with 18 apartments is already in advanced stages of construction behind Avenida Gomes Pereira, also using factory-produced modules.”

According to the municipality, by 2026, an additional 106 housing units for affordable rent will be allocated in the Benfica neighborhood.

“This year alone, 27 homes have already been delivered, with the goal of reaching 50 by the end of 2025. This represents the largest ever investment in housing by a Parish Council — 69 million euros — with 272 homes applying for the 1.º Direito program (IHRU),” highlights the municipality.
