In a statement, Portuguese film production company Hot Chilli Films highlighted that the jury described the film as: “A poetic film-concert that immerses the audience in the intense music of Expresso Transatlântico.”
“Inspired by the eponymous album released in September 2023, ‘Ressaca Bailada’ is a film-concert born from the desire to extend the visual language of Expresso Transatlântico beyond music videos, exploring new forms of live expression,” noted the Portuguese production company.
The filming of ‘Ressaca Bailada’ took place in Marvila and Bairro Alto, in Lisbon, and at Guincho, in the municipality of Cascais, from April 13 to 17, 2024.
The film features Gaspar Varela (Portuguese guitar, viola, electric guitar), Rafael Matos (drums), and Sebastião Varela (electric guitar), with contributions from Tiago Martins (bass), Zé Cruz (trumpet, keyboards, winds, percussion), Iúri Oliveira (percussion), and Conan Osíris (vocals on one track).
In the fictional parts, the cast includes actors Rita Blanco, João Cachola, Laura Dutra, Vicente Wallenstein, Inês Pires Tavares, Rodolfo Major, and Nuno Nolasco.
“The Main DokuMuse Award — iMystic enhances the artistic impact of ‘Ressaca Bailada’, acknowledging its unique approach to music and Portuguese tradition, reinvented through the lens of cinema,” the production company further stated.
The 9th edition of DokuBaku – the International Documentary Film Festival of Azerbaijan was held from October 13 to 19.
