
A 30-meter vessel sank at the marina of Cascais, located in the Lisbon district, following a fire on board, according to the spokesperson for the Cascais maritime authority.
The vessel had no one on board, resulting in no injuries, and despite the sinking, there is no risk of pollution, as containment barriers were deployed, the source confirmed.
In response to an alert at 10:10 PM about a boat on fire at the Cascais marina, the Cascais Lifeboat Station crew, members of the Cascais Maritime Police Command, along with marina staff, firefighters from Cascais, Estoril, and Alcabideche, and PSP personnel, were promptly dispatched to the scene, the Maritime Authority reported.
The crew from the Lifeboat Station, in coordination with marina staff, evacuated nearby boats with no additional damage reported.
The local command of the Cascais Maritime Police is handling the incident, with the Central Criminal Investigation Unit of the Maritime Police and the Judicial Police being informed.
