Earlier today, a fire broke out on the roof of a building on Rua dos Prazeres in Lisbon, causing no injuries or displacements and is currently under control, according to the Firefighters Regiment.
“The fire ignited at around 7:20 AM on the roof of number 27, Rua dos Prazeres. The flames were confined to the roof area. There are no injuries or displacements,” the source stated.
A municipal civil protection source reported that this fire occurred two days after a previous incident at the same location.
“It was a reignition at the same site as the previous fire two days ago,” the source added, noting that no one was present in the building today as all residents had been evacuated and rehoused following the earlier incident.
The building, privately owned, comprises four floors, including a ground floor with an independent entrance at number 25, and contains a total of five units.
The fire on Tuesday started around 8:30 AM in the attic, where a 48-year-old man, residing illegally, lived.
The man was treated for smoke inhalation and first-degree burns to his left lower limb and face. He was transported to Hospital de São José.
The building also housed an elderly couple, aged 82 and 83, on the second floor (single unit) and a 74-year-old woman on the ground floor, who went to live with family members.
The first-floor units, right and left, are both vacant.
