The flames have necessitated the closure of a section of the Estrada Nacional 222 near the Avenida do Miradouro area.
An official from the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Porto Metropolitan Area reported that an alert was issued at 4:36 PM for a “high-intensity fire” in a brush area.
According to the Civil Protection website, as of 7:20 PM, there were 154 personnel battling the flames, supported by 49 land-based units.
