
The fire was extinguished around 2 a.m., stated a spokesperson for the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-regional Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
“The [sofa factory] facilities were completely destroyed, but the roof did not collapse,” the source added, confirming that no injuries resulted from the fire.
The blaze began at 10:17 p.m. on Thursday and was fought by over 40 personnel, supported by 12 vehicles.
A representative from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-regional Command reported that personnel remained on site “for surveillance.”
According to the ANEPC portal, by 2:45 a.m., 35 personnel and 11 vehicles were still on the scene.
