The forest fire that broke out today around 2:30 pm in Albergaria-a-Velha, in the district of Aveiro, mobilizing more than a hundred operatives and several air means is already circumscribed, a source from the Fire Department told Lusa.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, the commander of the Albergaria Firefighters, Albano Ferreira, said that the fire was given as circumscribed around 17:00 and said that until 19:00 it should be dominated.
“There are still a few hot spots, but the situation is evolving favorably,” he added.
Albano Ferreira said that the fire “started at the foot of a slope”, in the Telhadela area, in Ribeira de Fráguas, and spread quickly, due to the strong wind, adding that, so far, there are no victims, nor material damage.
At 18:00, according to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, the fire was being fought by 124 operatives, supported by 33 vehicles and two aerial means.
