
The ongoing fire is currently being managed by 342 operatives, supported by 175 vehicles. Authorities report no populations at risk and no evacuations or lockdowns have been ordered.
The Sub-Regional Command reports the fire has resulted in damage to a farming area, where approximately 350 piglets perished.
The fire has also caused four minor injuries—three civil protection officers and one civilian—all of whom received medical attention at Santarém Hospital.
According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection’s website, the fire alert was issued at 13:12 in Vale de Caldas.
By 17:40, the blaze was being tackled by 227 personnel, supported by 72 vehicles and aerial resources.
