The Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command provided an update Monday afternoon on the Aljezur fire in the Algarve, which is facing challenging situations due to adverse conditions.
“Due to the action of moderate to strong winds, multiple reignitions are occurring throughout the fire perimeter, all of which have high potential for development.” This situation, according to the Deputy Commander Abel Gomes at a press conference, demands swift reactions and full deployment of resources to the operations area, including aerial means.
The official noted that in some reignitions, “even aerial means struggle to operate due to the volume of smoke and the turbulence caused by the wind itself.”
