A fire erupted on Thursday afternoon in the village of Fontelo, located in the municipality of Armamar, district of Viseu, mobilizing dozens of emergency personnel.
The Douro Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported to Notícias ao Minuto that there are no injuries or individuals needing assistance, and although the fire is nearby, there are “as of now” no houses at risk.
As seen in the above image, or in videos shared on social media, smoke is close to residential areas.
The fire alert was issued at 1:00 PM, and 3 hours and 30 minutes later, at least 79 operatives were actively battling the flames, supported by 20 vehicles. Additionally, five aerial units have been deployed to the site.
