The forest fire that broke out at around 4:30 p.m. in Espiunca, Arouca, forced the evacuation of the Paiva footbridges, a Civil Protection source told Lusa, adding that the resources on the ground had been reinforced.
According to the source of the Sub-regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of the Metropolitan Area of Porto “the fire had, at 18:35, two active fronts” and “is close to the river beach of Vau”, a situation that “forced the evacuation of the walkways”.
Given the evolution of the fire, 87 operatives are on the ground, supported by 25 land resources and seven air resources, added the source from the Sub-regional Command, who admitted “further reinforcement of resources”.
“No injuries have been reported,” he said.
