A fire alert was issued at 14:31, consuming an area of brush and pasture near the village of Valongo, in the municipality of Avis, a source from the Alto Alentejo Emergency and Civil Protection Sub-regional Command disclosed.
Three individuals, including a civilian and two firefighters, required hospital treatment due to exhaustion, the source confirmed.
There are currently no residences at risk.
By 17:00, the Civil Protection source reported the involvement of 126 personnel, supported by 36 vehicles and four aerial units, in battling the blaze.
