The fire ignited on the eighth floor of a nine-story building. It has been extinguished, but searches are underway for a missing person. The fire resulted in 25 injuries, including two PSP officers, with five individuals hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, according to the Sub-Regional Command of Greater Lisbon.
The building was evacuated as authorities continue to search for the missing person and assess the condition of the structure.
The alert for the fire, which was contained to the eighth floor, was received at 3:53 AM. As of 6:30 AM, 32 personnel from the fire departments of Cacém, Queluz, and Algueirão, along with the National Institute of Medical Emergency and PSP, were on site, supported by 14 units.
