Abilio Félix, the commander, stated that the fire currently consumes only brush and that there are no homes at risk, although the village of Seixo de Ansiães is in the fire’s path.
“It’s still far. We hope it doesn’t reach there,” he stressed.
The fire started around 1:30 p.m., still burning with some intensity, and the efforts to combat it are being hampered by the wind, he added.
By 9:30 p.m., 130 operatives, supported by 38 vehicles, were fighting the flames.
In the afternoon, an aerial unit was also involved in the operations.
